The First Reconciliation and First Communion program is for all students in Public, Private or Catholic Schools, including Holy Name Parish School. All students need to be registered with the Holy Name Parish Religious Education Program to be considered part of the program. Click to register.
These sacraments (First Reconciliation precedes First Eucharist.) are usually received in Grade 2. It is required that the child has attended Grade 1 in either a Religious education program or Catholic School. Children in higher grades will be accepted into the program after consultation with the Religious Education Director.
Parents and families are encouraged to participate in preparing their children for the sacraments. Since the children are preparing to receive Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist, it is expected that they attend Mass every week. With this in mind Holy Name has a 9:00am Family Mass (or if that is not possible, attend Saturday 4:00pm Mass, Sunday 7:00am or Sunday 11:00am), as well as the activities and liturgical events pertaining to that preparation.
A calendar indicating the dates and locations of all events that children and parents are required to attend throughout the year will be provided upon registration. These are in addition to Religious Education classes or attendance at Catholic School.
